For Holly Jett, working in clean energy is about more than a job title. It is about helping communities use energy more responsibly while keeping complex projects running smoothly behind the scenes.
As an energy efficiency program manager at Brightcore Energy in Armonk, Jett plays a key role in coordinating the people, processes, and logistics that make the company’s energy efficiency projects possible. She’s been with the company since 2022.
“My work touches a bit of everything,” Jett said. “Program administration, project coordination, and supporting clients. It is really about making sure everything stays organized and on track.”
A typical day for Jett involves working closely with both internal teams and field staff. She helps develop and maintain the processes and documentation that guide Brightcore’s programs while also managing project logistics such as scheduling, compliance requirements, and data tracking. Much of her role centers on communication.
“A lot of my day is balancing the behind-the-scenes operations with making sure clients and internal teams have what they need,” she said.
Jett was initially drawn to the clean energy industry because she wanted to work in a field that makes a tangible difference.
“I have always been interested in work that has a real, positive impact,” she said. “Helping people use energy more efficiently and contributing to something that benefits both customers and the environment really resonated with me.”
Since clean energy technologies and policies continue to evolve, she said the field offers constant opportunities to learn.
“There is always something new to understand or a better way to do things,” Jett said. “That keeps the work engaging and meaningful.”
Jett said the workplace culture at Brightcore has also played a major role in her job satisfaction. She describes the company as a supportive environment that allows employees to build confidence and take on more responsibility over time.
“The team is collaborative and clear in how we work together,” she said. “That kind of environment makes day-to-day work manageable and helps you grow professionally.”
For people interested in entering the clean energy field, Jett said passion and curiosity often matter more than extensive technical knowledge at the start. She adds that a strong work ethic can also help people get their foot in the door.
“You do not need to know everything on day one,” she said. “Having a real interest in sustainability and being willing to learn goes a long way.”
Strong communication skills, teamwork, and organization are also essential in roles like hers.
“Being able to work well with a team and manage details reliably is really important,” she said.
Her advice to aspiring clean energy professionals is simple: Stay curious and focus on building skills over time.
“If someone has a good work ethic and wants to grow in a meaningful field, clean energy is a great place to build a career,” Jett said. “Brightcore is also a supportive place to start.”
