Openings

Lights, camera, economy boost! Mediapro Studios at Great Point Studios opened in Yonkers this past November, bringing in yet another state-of-the-art production complex, complete with soundstages, post-production facilities, and a host of amenities designed to attract filmmakers. Located in an expansive 100,000-square-foot studio at 1050 North Broadway, Mediapro boasts three stages designed to accommodate both large-scale productions and more intimate undertakings, and also features a mill shop with adjacent loading docks, equipment storage, and sound and control rooms. What’s even more exciting? Mediapro Studios was recently leased to NBCUniversal Television for an upcoming series—details are still under wraps but stay tuned for a big reveal in coming months. The new campus is easily within the 30-mile NYC Film Zone, giving Manhattan-based projects even more incentive to come north.

Talk about reason to jump for joy if you have young kids—Cloudbound in New Rochelle is a play space concept specifically for littles ages 0-6. The latest tenant at 80 Nardozzi Place, right next to PXG Westchester and My Salon Suite, occupies just shy of 20,000 square feet, providing ample space to blow off steam. Pioneering developer Sky Zone describes it as a combination children’s museum-playground rooted in research-backed ideas to spark both physical activity and creativity.

Speaking of accolades, Mount Vernon’s senior living community Wartburg has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s best, earning “Best Nursing Home” distinctions across several metrics. The Wartburg Home received high performing ratings in both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care from U.S. News & World Report and earned a spot on Newsweek’s 2026 America’s Best Nursing Homes list. Wartburg was also ranked in the top quintile for quality by the New York State Department of Health’s Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI). That’s a lot to celebrate for elders and their families.

As RideConnect of Family Services of Westchester prepares to close its doors, Transportation Resources Access (TRA) is gearing up to fill the gap, assuming responsibility for non-emergency medical transportation services that thousands of residents rely on to access care. This transition represents an important shift in community mobility support in our area, at a moment when demand for accessible transportation is rapidly rising. Since its founding in 2011, Mount Kisco-based TRA has worked to meet the needs of thousands of older adults and adults with low vision who lack access to reliable transportation and essential information to help them live independently.

Nesugar G2 Portable Garment Steamer, $59

Pretty much everyone who has traveled for work knows the feeling: Crumpled-looking shirt, and a half-hour tops to make it to a panel. Enter the Nesugar G2 Garment Steamer.

Giving Guide 2023

There are a number of rewarding philanthropic opportunities and organizations throughout Westchester County.
Nesugar G2 Portable Garment Steamer

Small, ergonomic, and weighing under a pound, the G2 promises to reliably smooth wrinkles without weighing down your carry on. It’s ready in under 15 seconds, emitting bursts of steam that smooth creases quickly. The 900-watt heater packs a respectable punch, especially given its size. Just be aware the 70 mL reservoir means you’ll likely have to refill if you’re steaming more than a shirt or two; heavy fabrics like wool or thick linen will require multiple passes. Bottom line: The G2 won’t replace a full-sized steamer, but it’s perfect in a pinch.
