Cross County Center Announces a Large Expansion Plan in Yonkers

Marx Realty has begun construction on a 60,000-foot-retail expansion, including two new buildings, additional parking, and a four-acre park.

Get ready to shop at more stores with even more space at Cross County Center in Yonkers! Marx Realty, a New York-based owner, developer, and manager of office, retail, and multifamily properties across the United States, has started construction on a 60,000-square-foot retail expansion at the shopping center in collaboration with TPG Architecture and landscape architecture firm Ditworks.

The expansion plan includes the construction of two buildings – one single-story 14,000-square-foot building and one two-story 44,000-square-foot-building – as well as a four-acre park. Both buildings will be located on the north lot at Cross County Center. The two-story building plans to restack existing retail tenants to accommodate both new and current retailers. Plus, more retailers bring the opportunity to add more parking. Marx Realty plans to include underground parking and additional elevators to Cross County Center to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic to the destination.

“The incredible demand for space at Cross County Center created the need to bring new physical space to the property,” says Craig Deitelzweig, CEO of Marx Realty. “The country’s leading retail dining destinations want to plant their flags at Cross County Center due in large part to our special mix of tenants and uses as well as our beautiful green spaces, hands-on management, and our ongoing reinvestment in maintaining its place as the northeast region’s preeminent retail center.”

A Four-Acre Park and Boardwalk

In addition to new retail spaces, Marx Realty plans to create a four-acre park. The park will feature an adjacent boardwalk with café-style seating, an allée of trees, and umbrella-shaded areas. Additionally, the park will accommodate new and ongoing special programming events like the annual Summer Fest, Halloween events, fashion shows, concerts, family activities, farmers’ markets, wellness programs, and large vendor markets. The park space will act as the “front door” to the Cross County Center, allowing guests to spend time outdoors and participate in community events.

“Green spaces, a beautiful new park, seating areas, and year-round programming provide ample opportunity to spend a day at the Center enjoying all it has to offer,” Deitelzweig observes.

An Underground Parking Garage

The addition of the green park and two new buildings will replace a portion of the existing surface parking. The expansion plan includes a new underground parking garage located beneath the parking lot to accommodate this change. There will be two new elevators to provide convenient access from the underground garage to the ground level. Parking will also remain free.

“Cross County Center provides a vibrant and welcoming center for visitors whether they visit to shop and dine or just to unwind with family and friends,” says Deitelzweig.

Cross County Center is located at 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers. The expansion project is expected to be finished in fall 2027. For more information, visit the center’s website or follow @crosscountycenter on Instagram.
