Last year, Volunteer New York! mobilized over 35,000 volunteers in the Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam County areas to pitch in at local nonprofits. These volunteers provided over 457,000 hours of service, which translates to an economic value of approximately $16.9 million reinvested in the community.
The Westchester County Historical Society (WCHS), founded in 1874, is the oldest nonprofit in the county and one of the 10 oldest county historical societies in the United States.

A study commissioned by the Hudson Valley Funders Network found that regional nonprofits in the Hudson Valley, including Westchester, generated $7.4 billion in annual wages. Westchester nonprofits were responsible for $3.6 billion of that total.
