A New Outpatient Therapy Site Arrives in Mount Vernon

Burke Rehabilitation added its 15th outpatient facility to its growing list of outpatient therapy sites in New York.

Burke Rehabilitation, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization located in White Plains that’s dedicated to rehabilitation treatment, has officially opened its newest outpatient facility in Mount Vernon. It has been ranked as a top rehabilitation hospital by U.S. News & World Report, was named among the top 10 rehabilitation centers by Newsweek, and is a proud member of the Montefiore Health System.

Outpatient Therapy Offerings

The new outpatient facility offers a range of services for individuals recovering from orthopedic injuries and neurological conditions. Some services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech, language, and swallowing therapy. Additionally, the outpatient facility will support around 15,000 patient visits annually and employ up to 10 therapists.

“This expansion marks a key milestone for the growth of Burke’s Rehabilitation’s outpatient footprint, as this Mount Vernon location is our 15th outpatient therapy site,” says Burke Rehabilitation’s executive director Scott Edelman, CPA, MBA, CFE, FHFMA. This new location represents a big step in Burke Rehabilitation’s multi-year strategy to extend its rehabilitation services to more patients.

“We look forward to continued investments in outpatient therapy as part of our steadfast commitment to expanding and enhancing our services, meeting patients where they are, and fully supporting their recovery goals,” adds Edelman.

The Design and Construction Process

The new 3,500-square-foot outpatient site was thoughtfully designed by Cardarelli Design & Architecture and constructed by Scully Construction. It features a 1,800-square-foot therapy gym with plenty of natural light, two private exam rooms, two semi-private treatments bays, and additional treatment tables. To help patients meet individualized recovery goals, the facility offers personalized, one-on-one sessions with therapists that are focused on exercises and therapy techniques.

“Across our outpatient sites, Burke is known for the highly personalized level of one-on-one care we provide to every patient we serve, says Steven Tisser, PT, MBA, Burke Rehabilitation’s vice president of outpatient services. Burke Rehabilitation also has other outpatient locations throughout the Bronx, Westchester County, and Hudson Valley and plans to open more sites in the tristate area.
